On the Grand-Rue, at number 46, the Tabashop opened in 1970 and has been run by the Monbaron family since 1996. Fully modernised in 2020 around a proper cigar cellar, the shop now stocks more than 1,200 formats from Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Costa Rica (24 heures ↗). In January 1997, during his stay in Montreux to record “Blood on the Dance Floor” at Mountain Studios, Michael Jackson stopped in, a blue surgical mask over the lower half of his face, and signed an autograph for one of the shop assistants.
